Ken Jacobs

CFP®, AIF®, CLU

Ken also holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations.

Ken’s background is in economics and public policy. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Colorado College and Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Michigan. Ken initially worked at the Solar Energy Research Institute (now the National Renewable Energy Laboratory) in Golden. For much of his career he served as Budget & Planning Director for the Colorado Department of Revenue and then as a senior staff member at the University of Colorado at Boulder. In his public sector roll he became very familiar with PERA, the State of Colorado’s pension system. Ken’s own involvement in Socially Responsible Investment began in 1978, when he participated in an effort to divest his college’s endowment from companies doing business in South Africa. His graduate work in Public Policy focused on the grossly flawed economics of nuclear power.

Ken founded Colorado Sustainable Financial Planning in 2006, and merged CSFP with Sustainable World Financial Advisors in 2016. He is an Investment Advisor Representative of First Affirmative Financial Network.

Ken lives with his wife in Golden, Colorado and has two grown children nearby.  He currently serves on the City of Golden’s Community Sustainability Advisory Board. He was also a founder of the Harmony Village Cohousing Community there. He is proud to be a Colorado native, and enjoys everything it has to offer. He’s a pretty fair telemark skier, and plays bluegrass mandolin.
